Inclusive Fashion: Clothing designed for Neurodivergence.
Share

Neurodivergence is becoming an increasingly important part of the conversation around inclusion, accessibility, and mental health in Australia. With more people receiving diagnoses of conditions like ADHD and Autism, there’s a growing awareness of how everyday experiences-like getting dressed-can affect those living with sensory sensitivities.
So what does Neurodivergence look like in Australia today?
Current Statistics:
ADHD affects approximately 281,000 children and adolescents, and 533,000 adults in Australia (Brain Foundation. April 2025. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)).
Autism: As of 2022, 290,900 Australians has a diagnosis of Autism. 1.6% were male, and 0.7% were female. The highest prevalence group were identified as males between the age of 5-14, followed by females in the same group. (ABS, (2022). Autism in Australia, 2022.)
The chances are, you know, or cross paths with someone regularly who suffers from an executive functioning disorder that doesn't always have a stereotypical front. A common symptom of Neurodivergence is sensory overload. This can take shape in many forms- sounds, smells, lights, and textures. Those. Itchy. Fkn. Tags.
